Updated November 6, 2026. Bci credit cards have a different structure from almost every other bank: they charge a monthly fee and a semiannual one. In the current BciPlus+ line, the monthly fee ranges from 0.14 UF (about CLP 5,779) on the Visa Classic to 0.30 UF (CLP 12,384) on the Visa Infinite, and the semiannual charge from 1.00 UF to 3.20 UF, according to the bank's fee schedule. That semiannual charge is halved or waived depending on how much is spent on the card, and disappears with a Bci checking account plan.
This profile gathers what Bci publishes for each card and marks as "not published" what does not appear. The current fee schedule linked by the bank is updated to May 7, 2025 and states that fees are adjusted every April by INE's real wage index, so 2026 values may differ slightly. Bci's card pages blocked automated access on November 6: the minimum incomes and credit limits in this article are those shown on those public pages and should be confirmed with the bank. The Walmart alliance card has its own profile: Lider Bci card.

The table adds both charges to get the annual cost without discounts: twelve monthly fees plus two semiannual ones. It is the ceiling; in practice, those who use the card enough or have a checking account plan pay less, and the monthly fee is not charged in months with no purchases, advances or debt.

How the Bci card's semiannual charge is reduced
The semiannual charge is billed in arrears and discounted according to the average monthly purchases in Chile over the last six months. Thresholds vary by card, and those with a Bci checking account plan get a permanent 100% discount, even without using the card, paying only the plan fee.

Since May 2025, Bci / AAdvantage Mastercard Black and Visa Infinite cards linked to a plan are exempt from the semiannual charge regardless of the amount billed. An example: with a BciPlus+ Gold and average purchases of CLP 600,000 a month (above UF 13), the 1.80 UF semiannual charge drops to zero and the annual cost falls from CLP 217,956 to CLP 69,350, monthly fees only (Pauta Financiera calculation).

Purchases abroad, cash advances and other charges
The entire BciPlus+ line is exempt from the 2.5% fee on purchases abroad, as are the Bci / AAdvantage Signature, Black and Infinite; the Bci Visa Simple and the AAdvantage Gold do charge it. Cash advances in Chile carry no fee (UF 0) and advances abroad cost 0.23 UF, or 0.30 UF on AAdvantage and some OpenSky cards. To convert dollar purchases, Bci uses the observed dollar rate on the date the purchase is reported.
On US$1,000 of spending abroad, the difference between an exempt card and one charging 2.5% is US$25, about CLP 24,274 at the November 5 observed dollar (Pauta Financiera calculation). CAE and maximum rate on the Bci credit card
Bci does not publish a fixed CAE per card in the documents reviewed: it depends on the amount, term and rate of each installment purchase or advance, and appears on the summary sheet and in each simulation. The ceiling is set by the CMF: according to the certificate in force since October 15, 2026, the maximum conventional rate is 41.02% a year for debts up to 50 UF, 34.02% between 50 and 200 UF and 30.03% between 200 and 5,000 UF. The schedule does set the rate on the overdraft line tied to plans: the current interest rate plus a monthly spread of 2.15% (BciPlus+ plans) or 1.20% (Preferencial).
What paying in installments with Bci can cost
The maintenance fee is only part of the cost. What weighs most, when the full statement is not paid or purchases are made in interest-bearing installments, is interest. Since Bci does not publish a fixed rate per card, the calculation below uses the legal ceiling: a CLP 300,000 purchase at the maximum conventional rate of 41.02% a year (bracket up to 50 UF, in force since October 15, 2026). It is the worst case; the rate the bank offers each customer may be lower.
| Term | Monthly installment | Total interest | Total paid |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 installments | CLP 106,913 | CLP 20,740 | CLP 320,740 |
| 6 installments | CLP 56,150 | CLP 36,897 | CLP 336,897 |
| 12 installments | CLP 30,896 | CLP 70,754 | CLP 370,754 |
| 24 installments | CLP 18,522 | CLP 144,527 | CLP 444,527 |
Source: Pauta Financiera calculation with a fixed installment and the rate from the interest rate certificate. It excludes stamp tax, insurance and per-installment fees, which raise the CAE. Over 24 months, interest reaches almost half the purchase value.
Since June 2026 the minimum payment on all cards is also changing. According to the CMF, once General Rule 537 is fully phased in, the minimum payment must cover 100% of non-financeable amounts (interest-free installments for the period, interest, fees and other charges) plus 5% of financeable amounts, which are mainly principal. The rule is being applied gradually and is fully in force 24 months after it began.
Which Bci card fits each profile
- First bank card with income from CLP 550,000: the BciPlus+ Visa Classic, the line's lowest annual cost (3.68 UF without discounts).
- Those spending over UF 13 a month on the card: on Classic, Gold and Platinum the semiannual charge drops to zero.
- Those who have or want a Bci checking account: the plan removes the semiannual charge; with a salary deposit, the Plan Bci Plus costs 0.15 UF, as detailed in accounts to receive your salary.
- Travelers earning American Airlines miles: the Bci / AAdvantage Signature, Black and Infinite, with no fee on purchases abroad.
- Those who rarely use the card: the monthly fee is not charged in months without use or debt, but the semiannual charge still applies without a plan; compare it with no-fee credit cards.
