Santander Chile credit card 2026: fees, CAE and requirements

Updated November 6, 2026. Santander Chile currently groups its personal credit cards into four tiers: Santander Life, Platinum, WorldMember and WorldMember Limited, the last three linked to the LATAM Pass program. Taken without a checking account plan, their monthly fee ranges from 0.12 UF to 0.60 UF, that is, from CLP 4,954 to CLP 24,768 a month at the November 6 UF, according to the bank's official pages.

The lineup changed over the past year: the Gold card is no longer offered and, since December 30, 2025, Life Santander LATAM Pass cards became Platinum Santander LATAM Pass. This profile gathers what the bank publishes and marks as "not published" what does not appear. Santander is also one of the country's largest banks: its third-quarter 2026 results show the weight of its retail business.

Santander credit card fees in 2026

Santander publishes two prices per card: the monthly fee for the card alone, without a checking account plan, and the fee for the plan that bundles a checking account, debit card, credit card and credit line. The plan costs more than the card alone but includes the checking account; the Limited plan also has a reduced option of 0.34 UF, according to its page.

Is the plan or the card alone better? It depends on whether you need a checking account. On the Platinum, the plan costs 0.39 UF a month and the card alone 0.23 UF: the difference, 0.16 UF or about CLP 6,605 a month, is what you pay for the plan's checking account, debit card and credit line. On the WorldMember the difference is 0.18 UF and on the Limited, 0.08 UF. Those who only need to receive a salary and pay by debit can compare that amount with a no-fee demand account; those who use a credit line or checkbook, with the cost of a separate checking account (Pauta Financiera calculation using the bank's published fees).

LATAM Pass miles and foreign charges

LATAM Pass cards earn miles per dollar spent in Chile and abroad, at a rate that depends on the customer's level in the Santander Rewards program. For the Platinum, the bank's page states 0.6 miles per dollar at level 1. On foreign purchases, the Platinum page reports a 2.5% fee (0% on American Express cards), and cash advances outside Chile cost 2.5% + US$2.5.

For frequent buyers abroad, that 2.5% adds up: on US$1,000 of spending it is US$25, about CLP 24,274 at the November 5 observed dollar (Pauta Financiera calculation). Other issuers charge nothing on those purchases; we compare them in the best cards to use abroad and in our guide on where to buy dollars.

CAE and maximum rate on the Santander credit card

Santander does not publish a fixed CAE per card on the pages checked: the CAE depends on the amount, term and rate of each installment purchase or cash advance, and appears on the summary sheet and in simulations. The legal cap is set by the CMF each month: according to the certificate in force since October 15, 2026, the maximum conventional rate is 41.02% a year for debts up to 50 UF, 34.02% between 50 and 200 UF and 30.03% between 200 and 5,000 UF.

To compare entry costs with other banks: BancoEstado's cheapest card costs 0.025 UF a month and Banco de Chile's, 0.07 UF, versus 0.12 UF for the Santander Life.

What paying in installments with Santander can cost

The maintenance fee is only part of the cost. What weighs most, when the full statement is not paid or purchases are made in interest-bearing installments, is interest. Since Santander does not publish a fixed rate per card, the calculation below uses the legal ceiling: a CLP 300,000 purchase at the maximum conventional rate of 41.02% a year (bracket up to 50 UF, in force since October 15, 2026). It is the worst case; the rate the bank offers each customer may be lower.

Since June 2026 the minimum payment on all cards is also changing. According to the CMF, once General Rule 537 is fully phased in, the minimum payment must cover 100% of non-financeable amounts (interest-free installments for the period, interest, fees and other charges) plus 5% of financeable amounts, which are mainly principal. The rule is being applied gradually and is fully in force 24 months after it began.
