Scotiabank credit card fees in 2026
For each card, the bank publishes the minimum net income, the monthly fee (M) and the semi-annual fee (S). According to its card fee schedule, credit card fees are VAT-exempt and, if a customer has two or more cards, the semi-annual charge applies to only one. For cards issued since November 15, 2025, the same document says the card is exempt from the charge if it has no use in the period, that is, no transactions and no outstanding debt.

The yearly total is a Pauta Financiera calculation (monthly fee times 12 plus two semi-annual charges). On the Gold, the two semi-annual charges (3.00 UF) weigh more than the twelve monthly fees (2.52 UF). The page also shows a second Visa Gold listing at 0.1 UF a month and a Visa Platinum for incomes from CLP 500,000, without explaining the difference; the fee that applies to each customer is in their contract. UF charges rise with inflation, as we explain in our guide on what the UF is.

How much each card can cost per year
The bank's rates and fees document reports, for each card type, the minimum and maximum annual maintenance fee in pesos. The minimum is zero for all, and the maximum ranges from CLP 44,599 on the National and International cards to CLP 404,696 on the Singular. Those figures are consistent with the sum of monthly and semi-annual charges on the cards page.
Scotiabank credit card rates and CAE
For all its cards, the rates document reports an interest rate of 0.84% to 3.42% a month (10.05% to 41.02% a year). The maximum matches the maximum conventional rate for debts up to 50 UF in force since October 15, 2026; for operations between 50 and 200 UF the ceiling is 34.02% a year. The bank does not publish a fixed CAE per card: it depends on each operation's amount, term and rate, and appears on the summary sheet.
| Operation type | How it works at Scotiabank |
|---|---|
| Regular purchases | Interest-free if paid in full by the due date: up to 35 days of financing |
| Installment purchases | From 2 to 48 installments; since Feb 1, 2023 interest accrues from the purchase date |
| Immediate charge | Advances, casinos, currency purchases, tax payments: interest from the transaction date |

The fee is only part of the cost. What weighs most, when buying in interest-bearing installments or not paying the full statement, is interest. The calculation below uses the maximum rate the issuer publishes for small installment purchases, 3.42% a month, on a CLP 300,000 purchase. It is the most expensive case on its rate board; each customer may be offered a lower rate.
| Term | Monthly installment | Total interest | Total paid |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 installments | CLP 106,917 | CLP 20,751 | CLP 320,751 |
| 6 installments | CLP 56,153 | CLP 36,918 | CLP 336,918 |
| 12 installments | CLP 30,899 | CLP 70,788 | CLP 370,788 |
| 24 installments | CLP 18,525 | CLP 144,600 | CLP 444,600 |

Since June 2026 the minimum payment on all cards is also changing. According to the CMF, once General Rule 537 is fully phased in, the minimum payment must cover 100% of non-financeable amounts (interest-free installments for the period, interest, fees and other charges) plus 5% of financeable amounts, which are mainly principal. The rule is being applied gradually and is fully in force 24 months after it began.
Card alone or a checking account plan
Scotiabank also sells the card within plans that include a checking account, debit card, credit line and credit card. According to its plans and cards page, the Plan Scotiabank requires income of CLP 500,000 and costs 0.3 UF a month, reduced to zero with a monthly deposit of CLP 400,000 or more, investments in deposits or mutual funds from CLP 5,000,000 or 3 automatic bill payments. The Plan Scotiabank Plus, for incomes from CLP 1,200,000, lists a fee of 0.25 UF reduced to zero from a CLP 1,200,000 deposit. If a plan product is not taken, each product's separate fee applies.
