Itaú Chile credit card 2026: fees, CAE and requirements

Updated November 6, 2026. Itaú's credit card lineup for individuals currently includes, according to the benefit terms published by Banco Itaú Chile, the Legend, Black, Blue and Signature versions, plus the Condell, the RappiCard by Itaú and American Express cards. The same legal ceiling applies to all: the maximum conventional rate for debts up to 50 UF has been 41.02% a year since October 15, 2026.

A caveat before going further: the itau.cl site returned an access restricted message to both of our requests on November 6, so we could not verify on the bank's site the monthly fee, minimum income or foreign purchase charge of each card. Pauta Financiera does not use third-party comparison sites as a source for fees, so those cells read "not verified". What follows is what can be confirmed in primary documents and the rules that apply to any Itaú card.

Itaú credit card fees: what to compare

Without the bank's fee schedule at hand, the way to assess an Itaú offer is to ask for the summary sheet and set it next to other issuers' entry cards. These are the monthly fees of each bank's cheapest card that Pauta Financiera did verify in official documents on November 5 and 6, 2026.

CAE and maximum rate on the Itaú credit card

The rate on each installment purchase, advance or revolving balance is set by the bank, but it can never exceed the maximum conventional rate the CMF publishes every month. According to the certificate in force since October 15, 2026, the ceiling is 41.02% a year for debts up to 50 UF (about CLP 2,063,976), 34.02% between 50 and 200 UF and 30.03% between 200 and 5,000 UF. The CAE, which adds up interest, fees and charges, appears on the summary sheet and in each simulation.

What paying in installments with Itaú costs

The maintenance fee is only part of the cost. What weighs most, when buying in interest-bearing installments or not paying the full statement, is interest. Since we could not check the rates Itaú publishes, the calculation uses the legal ceiling: a CLP 300,000 purchase at 3.42% a month, the maximum conventional rate for debts up to 50 UF. It is the worst case; the rate the bank offers may be lower.

Since June 2026 the minimum payment on all cards is also changing. According to the CMF, once General Rule 537 is fully phased in, the minimum payment must cover 100% of non-financeable amounts (interest-free installments for the period, interest, fees and other charges) plus 5% of financeable amounts, which are mainly principal. The rule is being applied gradually and is fully in force 24 months after it began.

Requirements and what to ask for before signing up

The income, age and job tenure requirements for Itaú cards could not be confirmed on the bank's site. Across all issuers reviewed by Pauta Financiera, a pattern repeats: a valid ID, permanent residency for foreigners, proven income and no defaults. When assessing an offer, it pays to request these details in writing:

  • The monthly fee and whether there is a semi-annual charge: some banks, such as Scotiabank, add a semi-annual charge that outweighs the monthly fees.
  • The conditions to reduce the fee: salary deposit, purchase amount or number of transactions.
  • The foreign purchase charge: it ranges from 0% to 2.5% on the cards we reviewed; we compare it in the best cards to use abroad.
  • The CAE on the summary sheet for the offered limit, and the cost of any associated insurance, which is voluntary.
  • Whether the card comes within a checking account plan and how much the plan costs versus the card alone; our guide to the best banks in Chile ranks banks by other criteria.

If the application is rejected or it is a first card, our guide to easy-to-get credit cards compares issuers with lower requirements, such as the secured CMR or the Lider Bci, with taxable income from CLP 270,000.
